Agent Skills
The SAL repository ships two Agent Skills under
skills/. A skill is a SKILL.md file a coding
agent such as Claude Code or Codex loads when a task matches its description, so an agent with these
installed knows the SAL workflow and the SAL Module contract without being told.
salcovers a project: initializing, writing RDF that validates, importing ontologies, referencing a module, building, running, querying, and publishing, plus the fixes for the errors people hit most.salmodulecovers writing a module: thesalmodule ontologyandsalmodule runcommands, what the ontology document must declare, how the task instance arrives, the newline delimited JSON output contract, error nodes, handing over files withfile:///IRIs, and how to test the image locally.
Install as a Claude Code plugin
Section titled “Install as a Claude Code plugin”The repository publishes a plugin marketplace, so inside Claude Code:
/plugin marketplace add cgs-earth/sal/plugin install sal@sal/plugin update sal@sal picks up a newer release. The plugin carries only the two skills, with no
hooks, agents, or MCP servers.
Install with the skills CLI
Section titled “Install with the skills CLI”The skills CLI installs into whichever agents it finds on the
machine, Claude Code and Codex among them:
npx skills add cgs-earth/salInstall by hand
Section titled “Install by hand”Copy the two directories into an agent’s skills folder, either for one project or for the user:
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/cgs-earth/sal /tmp/salcp -r /tmp/sal/skills/sal /tmp/sal/skills/salmodule .claude/skills/ # Claude Code; or ~/.claude/skills/cp -r /tmp/sal/skills/sal /tmp/sal/skills/salmodule .codex/skills/ # Codex; or ~/.codex/skills/The skills describe the CLI as it stands in the same commit, so an update to one lands in the same
pull request as the behavior it describes. Report a gap or a stale instruction as an issue against the
skills/ directory.
